This is the 2022 release of the Springbank Longrow 21 YO. Matured in a combination of 30 % ex-bourbon, 60 % ex-sherry and 10 % ex-Chardonnay wine casks.

Nose: Begins with a rustic farmyard funk, amplified by potent wafts of peat smoke. The earthy notes contrast with fresher hints of apples. As it settles, undertones of vanilla and fudge sweetly emerge.

Taste: A full-bodied experience that dabbles in the realms of sugary richness and sweet fruitiness. However, an almost mischievous, bitter-ish streak surfaces, enhanced by peculiar notes of menthol and Tiger Balm. Quite the enigma.

Finish: Stretches out in a lingering dance, carrying forward its unique profile. The journey ends on a curious note, with metallic tones reminiscent of a freshly drawn, iron-laden blade.

Comment: More peculiar than perfect.
