This Springbank 8 YO - Online Tasting Week 2021 was initially matured for 6 years in refill bourbon barrels, then finished for 2 years in fresh PX casks.

This release was limited to 1160 bottles.

Nose: Hello, PX! How are you? You’re so sweet! So multi-faceted. So full of life! Softly spicy. Hints of perfume. With time also creamy vanilla, wood smoke and toasted oak. Hints of funkiness waay back in the background.

Taste: Full bodied and then some. The PX finish really puts its stamp on the palate here. A wonderful initial wave of deep, dark, sugary, syrupy notes of juicy raisins, figs and dates.

Finish: Long finish. More peppery now - white pepper, black pepper and even rose pepper. Honey, burnt caramel, wood smoke and toasted oak.

Comment: Is this really just 8 years old? It feels much older. It is exquisite! Again not much distillery character left, but I do love a fine PX influence.
