Another old Port Askaig bottling being tested and tasted today. Port Askaig is a series of single malts from independent bottler Elixir Distillers.

The distillery is undisclosed for the Port Askaig 28 YO. All we know is that it is a peated single malt, matured in refill American oak hogsheads. It is a small batch release limited to 3000 bottles, and it was released for sale in 2019.

You can still buy the Port Askaig 28 YO from The WHisky Exchange at GBP 295.

Nose: Wood smoke as well as a somewhat dirty element of engine oil. Touches of pine wood, oak and dusty attic. The crust of fresh bread.

Taste: Medium body and creamy mouthfeel. Chocolate and citrus ashes. Green notes again. A bit salty. Wood smoke and cocoa nibs with time.

Finish: Long finish. Delicate smoke and fruitiness. Again slightly maritime. Mild oakiness and herbal notes.

Comment: This is truly a dram to savour.

Score 90/100
