OK, so I’ve reviewed the unpeated Paul John Brilliance and the peated Paul John Bold, both from Paul Distilleries. Now it is time for the lightly peated Paul John Edited. As usual for Paul John, this whisky has been matured in ex-bourbon casks.

You can buy the Paul John Edited in Sweden at SEK 652 (8211901), and online in the UK at around GBP 39.

Nose: Lighter, more vanilla, and a whiff of smoke. Appears more restrained than the Brilliance. Some oakiness and tropical fruits.

Taste: Medium to full body, with an oily mouthfeel that has a fizzy note to it. White pepper, vanilla, raw ginger, and a touch of cinnamon. Mild wood smoke.

Finish: Medium long finish. Still fizzy, but now even more creamy. Creamy ice coffee. The oakiness comes through on the palate towards the end. Wood smoke with a pinch of salt.

Comment: I much prefer the peated Paul John Bold, but this is still a good dram.

Score 84/100
