Old Pulteney 25 YO

OK, let's do one more Old Pulteney review. Here is the Old Pulteney 25 YO, launched in September 2017. This whisky has been matured for 22 years in American oak casks, and then finished for three years in ex-Oloroso sherry Spanish oak butts.

This Highland distillery has recently revamped their entire core range and their packaging. New whiskies include the Old Pulteney Huddart, Old Pulteney 15 YO and Old Pulteney 18 YO.

A bottle of the Old Pulteney 25 YO can be purchased in Norway at NOK 4300 (8299901). The price was NOK 3300 back in 2018.

Nose: Vanilla, cookie dough, white pepper, sea salt and apples. A touch of acidity - orange zest me thinks. Cinnamon, dark chocolate, old books and the dusty attic of an old wooden house. It just keeps developing, twisting and turning, teasing and tickling. Delightful.

Taste: Very smooth, very rich and full of body. It does roll very elegantly over the tongue. Honey still, creamy, white pepper.

Finish: Long finish. Toffee and coffee. Dark chocolate. Gradually more green, green grass and hay. Herbal notes also. A touch salty, as expected, but less so than the younger expressions.

Comments: Just love it.
