This is the fourth and current release of the Octomore 10 YO from Bruichladdich. The Octomore 10 YO 4th edition has a peat level in the malt of 208 ppm, making it the peatiest of the 10 year olds so far. This is a vintage 2009 release. It was bottled 2020 in a limited run of 12000 bottles.

The Octomore 10 YO 4th edition is available to buy in Norway at NOK 2215 (12300601).

Nose: Rich and sugary wood smoke. Ripe and juicy orchard fruits behind the smoky veil. With time vanilla and hints of salted nuts.

Taste: Rich and full bodied. Big barley notes mixed with apples, mangoes, vanilla and of course smoke. Sweet, fluffy, marshmallow smoke. A bit salty

Finish: Medium to long finish. More vanilla and marshmallows now. The peat is very much present, but it is sweet, laid back and very approachable. White chocolate rolled in sweet ashes with the tiniest amount of barbecued citrus.

Comment: I love young Octomore, but we are slowly seeing more and more signs that Octomore is also aging very well. I cannot wait to have my first 20 YO Octomore! That could in theory happen towards the end of next year (after October 23 2022).

Score 89/100
