Finally it is here! The first Kyrö Malt Rye Whisky! We have had to wait a bit longer than expected for this. The team at Kyrö started making gin that was just too darn popular. Thus their production of whisky had to be scaled back for a while. But here it is, the Kyrö Malt Rye Whisky, made with 100 % malted rye.

The Kyrö Malt Rye Whisky will be available to buy in Norway starting Monday November 9 at NOK 700 (12328002).

Nose: Rich rye sweetness. Bread crust. Warm and earthy pepper notes. Vanilla and a mild fruitiness.

Taste: Medium to full body. Cereal, malty sweetness again. It is now more fruity - and I find apples, mango and pineapple. Mellow and earthy pepper notes form a solid base.

Finish: Medium long finish. Rich sweetness; minty and fruity hard candy. Toasted oak. More peppery towards the end, and a bit drier in style as well.

Comment: Well, darn it. This was well worth the wait. I’ll have another one, thank you!
