This Myken Ocean Heart Cask Strength is a limited edition of their core range product Ocean Heart (see review), but bottled at cask strength. Limited to only 400 bottles.
Matured for about five and a half years in 200L ex-bourbon casks and then finished for around a year in 40L 2nd and 3rd fill ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Total maturation is specified as 6Y6M.
The Myken Ocean Heart Cask Strength (2026) will be available to buy starting tomorrow at NOK 1800 (20543801).
Nose: Robust with vanilla, pencil shavings, nuts and citrus. Opens into orchard fruits and a hint of cut grass, becoming creamy and lighter with time. Strawberries and assorted red berries add lift.
Taste: Full bodied like a sumo wrestler. White pepper and a touch of dryness meet chocolate and green mint in a bold, weighty profile.
Finish: Medium long. Increasingly dry with amplified spice; earthy cinnamon and nutmeg, a touch of dark chocolate, toasted oak and a memory of soot.
Comment: Unapologetic powerplay!
