Here we are then, with the second release from Polish producers Kozuba & Sons Distillery. This time I am putting the Mr. Rye Straight Rye Whisky to the test.

The mashbill here states 100 % rye malt. It has been matured for three years in fresh American oak barrels.

Nose (19/25): Soft and welcoming. The initial impression is that of vanilla and pepper. Dry-ish. Warm sand, dust and hints of oak. Grapes and artificial sweetener.

Taste (17/25): Rather thin mouthfeel, and at the same time it feels raw. Peppery and dry. It has a bitter and oaky edge to it. After shave, cereal and bitter oranges.

Finish (16/25): Short and watery finish. It literally feels like drinking a dram under water (fresh water, not salty).

Balance (17/25): This dram comes across as way too young - unbalanced and raw.

Score (69/100)

Big thanks to my friend Łukasz over at Luk Loves Whisky.
