The Macallan Classic Cut 2018 is the second edition in a limited annual series. The 2019 edition is due out in Norway shortly.

Matured in Oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain. This is a limited run of 90 000 bottles

Nose: Dried fruits - in particular raisins, figs and apricots. Also rubber and a mild touch of struck match. Vanilla and cinnamon. Rich and warm.

Taste: Full bodied and on the sweet side. Rich honey and caramel mixed with the same dried fruits. Almond paste, oranges, vanilla and cinnamon. Cool and a bit aloof in character.

Finish: Medium long finish. Continues as it started. Not a lot of development. In the end I am left with the caramel, the almonds and perhaps a hint of citrus and mint.

Comment: A decent dram. Nice to be treated to a Macallan with a bit more omph than normal, but it could have been omph-ier.
