This particular Longrow Red is 10 years old, and has initially been matured for 7 years in bourbon casks and then finished for about 3 years in refill Malbec barrique casks (South African Malbec wine). It was bottled 2020-12-01, and was limited to 10000 bottles.

Nose: Deep and earthy peatiness. Earth cellar or dunnage warehouse. Rich and sweet.

Taste: Full bodied. Peppery peat, smokin' hot embers. Red berries and honey.

Finish: Medium long finish. Fairly dry now, and positively unsweet - no, wait. Not unsweet, but what little sweetness I find is tending towards the artificial flavouring style. Almost herbal in the end.

Comment: It’s good, but i’m not completely sold on this particular wine cask finish.
