Here is a peated Highland whisky from Loch Lomond Distillery. It has been matured in two hogsheads, with a total outturn of 800 bottles.

A few bottles ended up in Norway in May (“testutvalg”) and sold at NOK 629. You can still get it in the UK at around GBP 40.

Nose: Peaty wood smoke with a slight edge to it. It is not sour, but tending towards salty and bitter perhaps. Oaky and a bit strange. Digging deeper I find vanilla, caramel and malt.

Taste: Medium body. Quite peaty to taste as well. Again wood smoke, a bit earthy now. Oak and pepper. Quite dry.

Finish: Short finish. Turns out to be very dry on the finish. Watery with ashes and hints of vanilla and citrus.

Comment: I expected a bit more here.

Score 77/100
