This is one of four bottles in the new Nordic Whisky series from independent bottlers Berry Bros & Rudd.

The Kyrö 2016 - The Nordic Casks #1 was obviously distilled 2016. It was matured in a barrel (cask #16037), bottled 2021, and the total outturn was 256 bottles. This is a rye whisky, made from 100 % Finnish rye. It is also the first ever independent bottling of a whisky from Kyrö.

You can buy this rye whisky online at GBP 150.

Nose: Rye bread, black and white pepper and rich honey. Orange zest and creamy vanilla. It does nibble the nose a bit, but that’s just charming. With time also hints of ginger and cinnamon.

Taste: Very rich and thick. Massive amounts of fruity, peppery honey. Green mint and creamy vanilla. Milk chocolate.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Honey, fudge and chocolate. Orange zest in the background. Remains a little spicy till the end. Hints of toasted oak and mint.

Comment: Big in style resulting in a big smile!

Score 87/100
