Kjellermesterens Labprøve 4 – Norsk Whisky

Kjellermesterens Labprøve 4 – Norsk Whisky, 4 YO, 54 %

The mad professor of Grimstad strikes again. A Norwegian whisky with a mashbill of 80 % barley and 20 % malted rye. Distilled 2017-06-13, matured initially in unknown casks, then for the last three years matured in a single 250 litre 1st fill ex-Oloroso sherry cask (cask #192509).

The Kjellermesterens Labprøve 4 – Norsk Whisky goes on sale on February 14 at NOK 999 (14044102).

Nose: Very rich caramel mixed with oaky spices. Rich and warm black pepper. The faintest hint of acetone. With time leather and polish is added.

Taste: Full bodied. Medium peppery spiciness up front - green and black pepper. Then dry-ish, green and fruity.

Finish: Medium long finish. It remains rather green all the way - tomato plant and cut grass. Vanilla and caramel. Warm pepper notes ever the base.

Comment: Delightful and youthful.
