Kilchoman 2008 4 YO Single Cask for Isetan, 59.1 %

Perhaps a weirdly inaccessible whisky to review, but call me sentimental. I bought this whisky in Tokyo at one of the Isetan Department Stores. I desperately miss travelling, so here’s a wee trip down memory lane.

The Kilchoman 2008 4 YO Single Cask for Isetan was distilled 2008-04-02, matured in a single bourbon cask (cask #163/2008), and bottled 2013-01-21.

Nose: Big, meaty and peaty.

Taste: Big and almost bull-ish in style. Lots of rich peat smoke, mixed with meaty notes of broth and barbecued sausages and bacon. Hints of iodine, vanilla and summer fruits.

Finish: Medium to short finish. A bit lighter now, and more fruity. Sugary sweet.

Comment: A solid but young Kilchoman.
