Kanosuke New Pot

Kanosuke New Pot, 0 YO, 59 %

Today I am trying a new make from relatively new Japanese distillery Kanosuke. The Kanosuke Distillery started operations in 2018. They are located in the Kagoshima Prefecture at the southern tip of Japan, along the Fukiagehama Beach on the west coast.

Kanosuke is owned by Komasa Jyozo Co., Ltd, a producer of premium shōchū and liqueurs since 1883. The distillery runs three stills, all with different neck shapes and lyne arm angles. This makes it possible for them to create different styles of whisky, even with their modest sized setup.

I am tasting from a bottle from batch 18077, with a limited run of 1200 bottles (200 ml).

The Kanosuke New Pot will be available to buy in Norway starting May 8 this year at NOK 399 (200 ml) (1751404).

Nose: Rich and fresh. Malty and grassy.

Taste: Rich and full bodied. Malty and grassy again. Creamy mouthfeel. White pepper and hints of white chocolate.

Finish: Short - hey, it’s a new make! The white pepper and white chocolate lingers for a little bit.

Comment: Highly drinkable for a new make. This is exciting!

Score 84/100
