Jack Daniel’s American Single Malt

Jack Daniel’s American Single Malt, 6 YO, 45 %

Image from USAtoday.

This is the very first American single malt from Jack Daniel’s. Released last year as a Travel Exclusive, it comes in 1 litre bottles.

From the official product page:

“Just like Old No.7, it passes through Jack Daniel’s traditional charcoal mellowing process. It’s then matured for at least four years in new charred American white oak barrels, and finished for an additional two years in the finest quality Spanish Oloroso Sherry Casks from Andalusia, Spain.”

Nose: The whisky opens with a rich and sweet aroma. Notes of sweet caramel and vanilla swirl together. Toasted oak adds depth, while with time, the nose becomes almost comforting. Imagine marshmallows dipped in melted milk chocolate.

Taste: Medium to light body. Honey and leather intermingle with vanilla, creating a balanced flavor profile. There's a hint of oaky pepperiness and mild astringency, adding complexity. The dark caramel notes are almost burnt.

Finish: The finish is medium-long, echoing the flavors from earlier. It remains mild and sweet, making it an easy-drinking dram. Picture corn syrup drizzled over strawberry vanilla ice cream, leaving a pleasant aftertaste.

Comment: Deeply sweet with a charming roughness around the edges.
