Isle of Lime Gotland

Isle of Lime Gotland, 4 YO, 46 %

Matured in a mix of 1st fill ex-bourbon casks and ex-sherry casks. This is the 12th release from Isle of Lime, and for the first time they have included a few casks of their peated whisky, making this a lightly peated whisky.

From what I hear this is the first core range product from Isle of Lime. Here is the make up of batch 1 (see product page):

  • 6 barrels (ASB), 200 litre, unpeated

  • 4 barrels (ASB), 200 litre, peated

  • 2 hogsheads, 250 litre, ex-Oloroso sherry, unpeated

  • 2 hogsheads, 250 litre, ex-PX sherry, unpeated

The Isle of Lime Gotland is available to buy in Sweden at SEK 494 (56090).

Nose: Green apples and earthy wood smoke, Chocolate and creamy vanilla. With time also a hint of cut grass.

Taste: Medium to light body. Sugary sweet with orchard fruits front and center. Dry-ish with notes of peppery ashes and toasted oak. Vanilla and a soft spiciness.

Finish: Medium to short finish. More peppery on the finish. Still rather dry. Ginger, chocolate and sweet licorice. Lightly peated.

Comment: An OK whisky, but I think I prefer my Isle of Lime unpeated.

Score 83/100
