Indian Summer Cask Strength Gin Ex Sherry Bunnahabhain Peated Cask

Indian Summer Cask Strength Gin Ex Sherry Bunnahabhain Peated Cask, NAS, 51.8 %

Well, that’s a Meatloaf-esque title! The product is fun as well. This is a cask matured gin, and the cask previously held peated Bunnahabhain whisky. That certainly made me sit up and pay attention.

The producer of this product is the Indian Summer Gin Co., located in Huntly, Scotland, and they are working with Duncan Taylor.

You can still buy the Indian Summer Cask Strength Gin Ex Sherry Bunnahabhain Peated Cask in Norway at NOK 872 (12506801).

Nose: Straight off it is a fairly citrus driven gin nose we have here. No peated notes as yet. Soft touch of juniper and pine cones. Mixed spices. With time toasted oak and vanilla. Hints of dried fruits and meadow flowers as well. Dark chocolate which is probably the peat transmogrified.

Taste: A full bodied and feisty gin! The chocolate like peat makes an appearance straight away! Lovely chocolate notes. Mixed spices here as well. The juniper is hardly noticeable. The citrus is scaled back. More floral now perhaps.

Finish: Medium long finish. More of the same really. It does mellow out and take on a softly green character. Sugary sweet in the end.

Comment: A great and unusual gin!

PS! The picture is of a bottle from another ex-sherry Bunnahabhain cask from Indian Summer so the ABV is a little off. Other than that it looks the same.
