Here is the third release in the new Nordic whisky series from independent bottler Berry Bros & Rudd. The High Coast 2013 - The Nordic Casks #1 was distilled 2013 and bottled 2021. It has been matured in an ex-sherry hogshead (cask #1384), which yielded a total of 290 bottles.

You can buy the High Coast 2013 - The Nordic Casks #1 online at GBP 150.

Nose: Sun-warmed toasted oak smeared with rich maple syrup, and sprinkled with cinnamon, icing sugar and little fancy pieces of candied orange and crumbled fudge. This is a stunning nose! So vibrant and full of warm life. With time uncooked apple wood smoked bacon, creamy vanilla and nuts.

Taste: Big and bold! Cinnamon, toasted oak, more cinnamon, maple syrup, heather honey, creamy vanilla. Dried fruits, nutmeg and almond paste. Fun spices.

Finish: Medium long finish. More of the same goodness. Fairly spicy now, and a bit drier. Pepper of all sorts, cinnamon and ginger.

Comment: Divine nose, lovely palate!

Score 89/100
