Hart Brothers Islay Single Malt Whisky

Hart Brothers Islay Single Malt Whisky, NAS, 50 %

Here we have a NAS Islay single malt whisky from Hart Brothers. The producing distillery is undisclosed, but the great interweb have many pointing to this being a peated Bunnahabhain (“staoisha”). I believe they might be on to something. But first, let’s try the actual whisky.

The Hart Brothers Islay Single Malt Whisky goes on sale in Norway tomorrow at NOK 775 (16449901).

Nose: A cold fireplace filled with ashes and soot, setting a rustic, smoky ambiance. A mild briny note adds a maritime character. Pushing through the initial peatiness reveals a malty and somewhat fruity layer. Over time, subtle hints of caramel and coconut emerge in the background, adding a sweet, tropical touch.

Taste: Medium-bodied, cool, and laid back, providing a calm contrast to the peaty nose. The peatiness is less prominent on the palate, making way for sweet wood smoke paired with a pinch of sea salt. The character leans towards dry, with an oakiness reminiscent of wet planks and sawdust.

Finish: The finish is medium to short with not a lot of development, yet the peaty and malty notes remain throughout.

Comment: If you need a quick Islay fix this is for you!
