Last year we saw the release of the Glenlivet 12 YO Illicit Still and here we have the follow-up, the Glenlivet 12 YO Licensed Dram. These two whiskies make up the “Original Stories” so far, and I expect we shall see a third installment next year.

A “first fill - double oak” whisky as stated on the label; this whisky has been matured in 1st fill American and European oak casks.

The Glenlivet 12 YO Licensed Dram is available to buy in Norway at NOK 600 (13753001).

Nose: Vanilla ice cream with oak chips, fudge and strawberry topping. Nuts, milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Rather complex and very enjoyable nose.

Taste: Medium to full body. Earthy vanilla and cinnamon, dark fudge, dark chocolate and cold brew coffee. Cocoa nibs and nuts.

Finish: Medium long finish. Top notes of strawberries and sweet summer fruits added to the mix now. More peppery and borderline oaky towards the end.

Comment: Wow, this is a real treat!
