Time now to look at the Eiktyrne Adopted Malt MacHidden 21 YO. This whisky started out as a Scotch, distilled and matured in Scotland. Then it was moved to Norway and promptly adopted, before receiving a finish for about a year in a 110 litre Limousine apple brandy feuillette at Det Norske Brenneri, in Grimstad, Norway.

The total outturn for this batch 1 was 110 bottles (50 cl).

You can still buy the Eiktyrne Adopted Malt MacHidden 21 YO in Norway at NOK 1299 (11372902).

Nose: Lovely, fruity notes. Apples, pears and more tropical notes like pineapple and citrus. Malty and rich.

Taste: Rich and creamy mouthfeel. Quite the dose of black pepper up front. Then the spicy kick is matched by rich fruitiness as well as ginger, leather and a light bitter-ish touch-

Finish: Medium to long finish. Lighter now, and not as spicy. A touch oaky now instead. The fruitiness remains. Somewhat dry and floral towards the end.

Comment: I like it!
