Compass Box Hedonism Blended Grain

Compass Box Whisky Company was established in 2000. Their business is to blend whiskies. They have released a lot of different styles of whiskies. My husband har reviewed Flaming Heart, The Spice Tree and The General.

Here is what Compass Box says about Hedonism:

Our bottlings of Hedonism are made from a combination of eight to 15 casks of grain whisky from distilleries such as Cameron Bridge, one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in Scotland, and Cambus. Most whisky in Hedonism has been aged in first-fill American oak casks. This ageing yields a very special whisky that is full and round with richly textured flavours of vanilla and toffee.

The whisky is available in Norway at NOK 779,90 (item number 1686401) and in Sweden at SEK 725 (item number 10165).

Nose (21/25): A lot going on here. It starts off with malt, brown sugar and burnt caramel. Quite sweet. Then more nutty with marzipan, almonds and a dusty feel. After a while it becomes more fresh with mint notes and glue (if I can call glue 'fresh').

Taste (20/25): Sugary and sweet. Warm mouthfeel with malt, banana and burnt syrup. Watery.

Finish (20/25): Oily, nutty, thin and short. After a while it became salty and malty with a hint of something metallic. Maple syrup in the end.

Balance (20/25): Quite interesting nose. It really developed when I gave it time in the glass. The whisky was sort of balanced, nothing 'way off', but a bit thin and maybe too malty to my taste.

Score (81/100)
