Compass Box Glasgow Blend, NAS, 43 %

This product was formerly known as the Great King Street Glasgow Blend, but the latest marketing seem to indicate a move towards the “simpler” name Glasgow Blend.

Made from six different types of casks, from five different distilleries. About 65 % malt whisky, and consequently about 35 % grain whisky. See the factsheet on the official product page for more details. The named distilleries are Laphroaig and Clynelish among the single malts, and Cameronbridge as the only single grain in the composition.

You can buy the Compass Box Glasgow Blend in Norway starting March 5 at NOK 609 (12800901). It is also available in the UK at around GBP 35.

Nose: Medium smokiness. Hints of greenery. Mild oakiness. Soft spices and maltiness.

Taste: Medium body. Sweet and earthy. Sooty licorice. Rich maltiness. Nuts.

Finish: Medium long finish. Same but sweeter now. Also tinned fruits - apples, pears, pineapple and even mango. Remains softly nutty - almost like chocolate marzipan.

Comment: Love the richness!
