Bulleit Bourbon Blenders' Select, 6 YO, 50 %

This is a limited release bottled 2000. On the label we can read that this is a Very Special Bottling. The contents is a limited mingling of three of the ten distillates they have at the distillery. The ten distillates are two high-rye mashbills each distilled with five proprietary yeast strains.

Nose: Rather dark and mysterious for a bourbon. I pick up notes of coffee served around the campfire out on the prairie. Toasted oak and hints of maple syrup. Peppery toffee and creamy vanilla. With time soft floral notes.

Taste: Full bodied and dark. Pepper, dark chocolate and coffee beans. Creamy vanilla, honey, and cinnamon.

Finish: Medium long finish. It remains dark and mysterious all the way. The coffee and cocoa nibs are very present on the finish, as well as creamy vanilla and a hint of grass and mint. Soot right at the end.

Comment: Yeah, I’ll say it again - dark and mysterious - in a very good way.
