Bruichladdich Blacker Still

Bruichladdich Blacker Still, 20 YO, 50.7 %

Time for a classic now. The Bruichladdich Blacker Still was released back in 2006. This whisky was distilled 1986 and matured in sherry casks. Limited to 2840 bottles.

Nose: Dried figs, ripe plums, juicy (!) raisins and home made caramel pudding. Creamy vanilla, cinnamon and almond milk. With time also tropical fruits and even a hint of citrus.

Taste: Full bodied, rich and decadent. Dried fruits lead the way - raisins and figs mostly. White pepper and leather. Some oaky astringency. The sherry casks do come through here, and in a very good way.

Finish: Long finish. More of the same. Assorted dried fruits, as well as some tropical fruitiness now. Mild oakiness and a slowly drying character. Green notes of tomato vine and cucumber right at the end.

Comment: Love this!
