Here is the second release in the Bergslagens The Art Collection. This release was distilled in 2011 At now closed distillery Grythyttan. It was matured in a 225 litre Port cask (cask #250). Bottling ws done in February 2019, and the outturn was limited to 492 bottles (50 cl).

This is a heavily peated whisky at to 50 ppm phenols.

The Bergslagens The Art Collection: Port Cask appears to still be available to buy in Sweden at SEK 995 (345302).

Nose: Relatively peaty, and earthy in style - like the Madeira cask edition. This one is perhaps even more earthy, on the verge of being mouldy. With time I also find worn leather aprons stained with icing sugar. Someone left a banana split with ice cream in one of the deep pockets of the apron.

Taste: Full bodied and even spicier than the Madeira cask. Hot embers, warm ashes, sugary sweet lumps of coal. White pepper and vanilla. Dried fruits and a touch of mint.

Finish: Medium long finish. The spiciness relents and a smooth, fruity sweetness takes over. It ends on a dry and herbal note.

Comment: Fine, I tell you, fine.

Score 82/100
