BenRiach Malting Season Third Edition

BenRiach Malting Season Third Edition, NAS, 48.3 %

This is the third annual release of the BenRiach Malting Season. This whisky was made using concerto barley hand malted at the BenRiach Distillery Autumn 2012 and 2013, making this a single malt that is approximately 10 years old. It has been matured in a combination of virgin oak casks and 1st fill ex-bourbon casks.

The BenRiach Malting Season Third Edition will be released in Norway in a few days at NOK 1507 (16583501).

Nose: A rich maltiness sets a robust and welcoming foundation. Lots of chocolate is next. A hint of cut grass adds a refreshing and slightly earthy dimension.

Taste: Full-bodied with a rich mouthfeel. Peppery spiciness, which is followed by the slightly bitter edge of rowan berries. This is balanced by the sweetness of assorted red berries, returning to the core flavors of malt and chocolate.

Finish: Medium-long and maintaining the creamy, malty, and rich character experienced on the palate. The red berries provide a consistent and pleasant sweetness that lingers until the end.

Comment: Love the rich maltiness!
