Balblair 2006/2020 NMWL #8, 13 YO, 54.3 %
Distilled in 2006, matured in a single bourbon cask (cask #453), and bottled in early 2020. The total outturn was 165 bottles, which leads me to believe this was a split cask, ie. a portion went to a different bottling.
The Balblair 2006/2020 NMWL #8 was only available to buy for members of the NMWL (Norsk MaltWhiskyLag) in in Norway, and the price was NOK 1395.
Nose: Green apples and malt with a hint of licorice in the back. Vanilla and ginger. Soft floral notes.
Taste: Full bodied and rich. Lots of green apples on the palate as well. Black pepper and some oakiness. Vanilla and ginger.
Finish: Medium long finish. Still packs a punch. Dry now. Pepper and ginger, with a cinnamon follow-up. Floral with some astringency at the end.
Comment: A real powerful dram.
