Auchentoshan Cooper's Reserve 14 YO, 46 %

Auchentoshan Cooper's Reserve 14 YOI visited a friend last Friday and he offered a couple of whiskies I had not tried before. That is always exciting I think!

One of them was Auchentoshan Cooper's Reserve 14 YO. The other one you can read about on New Years Eve :)

Well, Auchentoshan Cooper's Reserve was matured in North American Bourbon Casks and Spanish Oloroso Sherry Casks for 14 years. This is actually the third distillery bottling I have tasted of Auchentoshan.

This whisky is released for Travel Retail. It is also available to buy online for GBP 58.

Nose (20/25): Light and dry. Dusty, if you know what I mean. And now comes the very special thing about this smell: I think of the smell of the stone from a peach! And some very dry figs.

Taste (21/25): Warm and dry. Fruity without being sweet. Burnt caramel. Smooth and quite rich. Nothing wrong with this taste!

Finish (20/25): Burnt caramel and a light sweetness. Quite short and dry. In the very end it became cold with the taste of eucalyptus.

Balance (20/25): This was a nice and smooth whisky. It was too boring to get a higher score, but nothing wrong with it.

Score (81/100)
