My first ever review of a whisky from independent bottler Goldfinch Whisky Merchants. This Ardmore was distilled December 2008, matured in a single 1st fill Oloroso sherry cask, and bottled recently. Limited to 350 bottles.

The Ardmore 2008 13 YO - The Kilnsman’s Dram goes on sale in Norway next week at NOK 1830 (15093901).

Nose: Smoked meat on the barbecue. Worn and stained leather apron. Grilled oranges. With time also green herbs and red berries. Dark and earthy all round.

Taste: Full bodied and heavy set. Lightly smoked barbecued meat. A splash of orange zest. Leather and bone dry ashes.

Finish: Medium long finish. Chocolate, leather, coffee and smoke. Burnt oak. I get a mild flashback to the weird Bowen’s Whiskey from Bakersfield, California.

Comment: A fun and weird Ardmore.
