AnCnoc 12 YO
AnCnoc 12 YO, 40 %
The whisky of the day is the AnCnoc 12 YO from Knockdhu Distillery, located in the Highland region of Scotland. This whisky has been matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, with a slight majority on the bourbon casks.
Knockdhu are selling their whisky under the brand AnCnoc to avoid confusion with the Knockando distillery.
Nose (21/25): Ginger, honey and citrus notes upfront. A bit spicy - oaky spices. I also pick up some floral notes and waxy apples. Warm and nice.
Taste (21/25): Cool and light mouthfeel. Soft fruitiness. Honey and mild caramel.
Finish (20/25): Nutty and slightly oaky now. A bit more caramel, and the fruit moves from citrus to more apples. Medium to short finish.
Balance (21/25): A very nice entry level dram. Makes you want to explore more from Knockdhu.
