Amrut Fusion

This is my second review of Amrut Fusion. This was actually one of the first whiskies I reviewed back in early 2012 (see review in Norwegian). I fell completely in love with this amazing single malt from India. But I was perhaps a little eager in my score, as I gave it a whopping 94/100!
The Amrut Fusion has for many years only been available to order here in Norway, ie. not available on the shelf in our government owned spirit shops. This changes on March 6, when Amrut Fusion will be back on the shelves ion most of the country. I therefore thought it would be a good idea to revisit this iconic Indian whisky.
The Amrut Fusion is available at NOK 770 (9399201). You can also buy this whisky in Sweden at SEK 659 (637301), and in the UK at around GBP 50.
Nose: Caramel with a hint of smoke. Rich, warm and comforting. Baked red apples, honey glazed and delicious. Sumptuous malt. Mild citrus and soft oakiness in the background.
Taste: Full bodied and rich the palate perfectly matches the nose. Again caramel with a smoky touch, as well as the scrumptious honey glazed apples.
Finish: Medium long finish, and then some. Still with the caramel, now less smoky. Dried fruits and a light touch of herbs. Lovely peppery and chocolatey finish.
Comment: Rock solid, and still rockin’!
