Another single cask release from Amrut Distillery in India bottled exclusively for La Maison du Whisky (LMdW) in France. Distilled July 2014, matured in a port pipe (cask #2713) that previously held peated whisky, and then bottled August 2020. The total outturn was 516 bottles.

The Amrut 2014 6 YO Peated Port Pipe #2713 is available in Norway at NOK 2225 (12902001).

Nose: Heavy wood smoke and gentleman’s perfume. Toasted oak, smoky marzipan, barbecue on the beach. With time also pepper and exotic spices.

Taste: Full bodied and rather smooth for such a high ABV. Demerara sugar and butterscotch. Toasted oak, soot and warm ashes. Dark chocolate.

Finish: Medium long finish. More of the same. In addition I also get burnt caramel, barbecued pineapple, earthy cinnamon and hints of citrus. The finish is actually very appealing. Fruity hard candy with icing sugar and soot in the end.
