This is a single cask for Norway and Sweden, an official bottling in Aberlour’s Single Cask Selection series.

The whisky was distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2020. It has been fully matured in a single 1st fill American oak barrel (cask #4270) and the total outturn is 168 bottles.

The Aberlour 2003 17 YO Single Cask #4270 goes on sale in Norway on Monday at NOK 2300 (12313101).

Nose: Soft, shy, and a bit dusty. With time it thankfully opens up and reveals notes of ginger and sun warmed toasted oak. Orchard fruits and cocoa nibs.

Taste: Full bodied. Well balanced and aromatic. Ginger, cinnamon, pineapple (of the barbecued variety), oranges (perhaps also barbecued?) and creamy vanilla.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Rich and sugary sweetness. Fruity hard candy, ginger and green herbs in the end.

Comment: Amazing Aberlour! Lovely to see an official bottling from Aberlour that is both bourbon barrel matured and cask strength.

Score 90/100
