Time for another new release from Teerenpeli distillery in Finland. This is the fourth new release from them in just a few months. The Teerenpeli Distiller's Choice KARHI has matured for 5-7 years in bourbon casks, and was then finished for 1 year in 1st fill Madeira casks. This is a duty free release, limited to just 1882 bottles.

The name of this whisky, as with all the other Distiller's Choice releases, is taken from agriculture. The word KARHI means a farming tool that is used to soften the field.

You can also buy the Teerenpeli Distiller's Choice KARHI from online retailers in the UK at around GBP 55.

Nose (21/25): Soft and medium sweet. Much like the Teerenpeli Rasi actually. I will need to dig into the details to find the difference between these two releases. There's a tiny touch of alcohol on the nose here, so it seems a tad younger than the RASI. Dried fruits, a bit like dry sherry. Figs and dates.

Taste (21/25): Smooth and rich. Full on sweetness, dried fruits and sweet licorice on a bed of peppery embers. Very nice. Lovely warmth.

Finish (21/25): Medium long finish. Warm and comforting all the way. Does not really develop any further, but the fruits, the licorice and the peppery warmth is all nicely balanced.

Balance (22/25): A very welcome dram when sitting in front of the fire while a snow storm is raging outside.

Score (85/100)
