Nordic Whisky #204 - Myken Arctic Single Malt Pineau Finish

Myken Arctic Single Malt Pineau Finish, 3 YO, 47 %

Finally, the first regular release from Norwegian whisky distillery Myken Destilleri. The Myken Arctic Single Malt Pineau Finish is a limited release of 900 bottles (50 cl). This whisky is three and a half years old. It has been matured in ex-bourbon casks, and then finished in an ex-Pineau des Charentes cask.

You can read more about this equally tiny and charming distillery here, and check out the official website here.

You can buy the Myken Arctic Single Malt Pineau Finish starting Friday this week at NOK 999 for a 50 cl bottle (10488602).

Nose: Malt, vanilla and notes of sweet wine. Orchard fruits and hints of oak.

Taste: Rich and full-bodied. Bitter oranges or orange zest accompanied by pepper and hints of chili at first. Then it mellows out a bit and I find fresh apples, pears and lighter notes of citrus sweetness. Honey as well. This is a playful dram.

Finish: Medium long finish. Nuts and honey sweetness to the front now.A touch of camphor.

Comments: Young, free and single! There is a promise of a bright future here.
