Chivas XV

Here is a brand new addition to the Chivas Regal range of products. The Chivas XV is a travel retail exclusive up until October 1, 2018. It was launched in July this year.

Here is the official blurb on the Chivas XV:

"Aged for a minimum of 15 years and selectively finished in Grande Champagne Cognac casks, this unique whisky is luxuriously fruity and deliciously sweet. The subtle influence of the cognac makes it the ultimate way to elevate your night out."

Use of Cognac casks is not really that common, but we recently saw the same for another product from a Pernod Ricard owned distillery - the Glenlivet Captain's Reserve.

The Chivas XV comes in two different packages, described as follows a gold colored bottle for parties and a clear bottle in a gold colored box for gift giving.

The Chivas XV currently sells at an RRP of USD 69 at airports around the world.

Nose: Quite a deep sweetness. Sugary sweet, with notes of grape juice and orchard fruits. Cold coffee and banana chocolate. Hints of mustard seeds and cinnamon. With time a very succulent and rich note of marshmallows. I admit I have a sweet tooth, but I appear to also have a sweet nose. This is very nice.

Taste: Medium body and somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Sweet and fruity on the palate as well. Mainly pears, sprinkled with icing sugar and mild caramel sauce. Black pepper, nutmeg and

Finish: Medium long finish. More caramel and vanilla now, as well as honey.

Comments: A fine addition to the Chivas range.
