Bruichladdich 1993 20 YO Cadenhead Small Batch, 51,6 %Bruichladdich 1993 20 YO Cadenhead Small Batch

I guess Bruichladdich must be one of my favourite distillery. I have tasted 40 whiskies from Bruichladdich and scored all except one above 85 points. I like both the peated and unpeated whiskies from Bruichladdich. In addition I think the independent bottler Cadenhead releases nice whiskies.

So...when we combine a favourite distillery with one of the best independent bottlers, we get Bruichladdich 1993 20 YO from Cadenhead's Small Batch-series. This is as good as it gets.

The whisky is distilled in 1993 and bottled in 2013. It is available in Norway at Vinmonopolet (item number 1253501). It is not available in Sweden.

Nose (24/25): Light and fruity. A sweet delicate smoke on the nose. Sweet and some licorice. All this developed after the whisky had spent quite a lot of time in the glass. No point in rushing this tasting experience.

Taste (24/25): Sweet and salty. Smoke and peat. That just about sums it up. Simple and lovely!

Finish (24/25): Still sweet and salty. Still smoke and peat. In addition some ashes.

Balance (24/25): A well-balanced and lovely whisky. Really delicate all the way, but it needed a lot of time to open up.

Score (96/100)
