WhistlePig Farmstock Rye Whiskey Crop No. 001, NAS, 43 %

Bottled 2017, this is the first product released from WhistlePig that contains rye whiskey they have produced themselves. Up until this point all releases had been 100 % sourced from other producers.

This whiskey is composed of 20 % 1 YO rye distilled by WhistlePig, 49 % 5 YO Canadian rye from Alberta, and 31 % 12 YO rye from Indiana.  The WhistlePig and Canadian rye whiskies are aged in Vermont oak.

Nose: Lovely notes of fudge, honey and leather. Mild peppery notes. With time earthy vanilla, candy floss and mild herbal notes.

Taste: Medium body. White pepper, watered down maple syrup and ginger. Some perfume.

Finish: Medium long finish. Much the same as how it started really. Honey and creamy vanilla added towards the end.

Comment: A decent rye.
