This independent bottling from Cadenhead’s was distilled back in 1993, and then matured for 25 years in a single bourbon hogshead. It was bottled Spring 2018, and the cask yielded 216 bottles.

I bought my bottle of Strathmill 1993 25 YO at the Cadenhead’s shop in Edinburgh back in the olden days when we could all travel, hug and be merry. I miss those days, and I wish them back soon!

Nose: Somewhat dusty and spicy. White pepper tickles my nose. Vanilla and subdued orchard fruits. With time relaxing notes of toffee, coffee and nuts.

Taste: More or less full bodied. Zingy and spicy upfront. Quite rough for such an advanced age. Some fruitiness and sweetness but the oak and spices keep playing tricks on me.

Finish: Long finish. Passive aggressive astringency. Sawdust mixed with pepper and green herbs. No sweetness at all left in the end.

Comment: A bit too rough and hard edged.

Score 83/100
