Strathclyde 2005 16 YO Bananas and Cream

Strathclyde 2005 16 YO Bananas and Cream, 46 %

Independent bottling of a single grain. Distilled at Strathclyde Distillery in the Lowland region, and bottled by Wemyss Malts. From what I can see this is my first ever review of a whisky from Strathclyde. Weird, but true.

This whisky has been matured in a single refill bourbon barrel, and it was limited to 246 bottles.

The Strathclyde 2005 16 YO Bananas and Cream is available in Norway at NOK 2712 (14349301).

Nose: Rather dark and restrained. Deep, sweet notes of floral honey is what first strikes me. Creamy vanilla, then even more honey - and beeswax.

Taste: Medium body and well over medium sweetness. The beeswax and honey is very much present on the palate as well. Dark and softly edgy in character. Sweet licorice, earthy cinnamon and creamy vanilla.

Finish: Medium long finish. A lot more of the same. Drying finish that brings floral notes.

Comment: A very fine and dry single grain.
