Millstone Ménage à Trois (Special No. 3)

Another world whisky, anyone? Well, I am certainly interested. This one comes with an interesting name as well. Best to just leave it at that and move on. The producer, Zuidam Distillery in the Netherlands, calls this whisky Millstone Ménage à Trois because it’s made up of three different types of grain. The mash bill (recipe) is 33 % malted barley, 33 % corn and 33 % rye.

This whisky was distilled in November and December 2008, and has been matured in virgin oak (source).

You can buy the Millstone Ménage à Trois in Sweden av SEK 699 (85244), and at various online shops at around € 40.

Nose: A touch funky, but in a good way. Dried fruits, hints of farmyard, vanilla, caramel, barley and some earthiness.

Taste: Lovely deep and multilayered sweetness. Delicate and fruity - grapes, apples and simple syrup. So rich and delightful!

Finish: Medium to short finish. Continues much as it started, but it is all over a bit too quickly.

Comments: Really, really lovely palate on this one! It feels a bit young, but it is fun.
