This is a core range, peated whisky from Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, Scotland. The official product page specifies this whisky has been “first matured for 16 years in ex-bourbon casks before being finished for 2 years in the finest sherry casks”.

Nose: White pepper, rowan berries, mustard seeds and wet oak. Medium smokiness after a while. After even more time, the smokiness takes on a distinctly meaty character. This is great stuff!

Taste: Medium body - almost. Sugary ash. A candy floss forest is on fire in the distance.

Finish: Long finish. Very nice balance between the smokiness, the fruitiness and sugary sweetness.

Comment: Lovely smoky character.
