Amrut 7 YO Double Cask, 46 %

Amrut 7 YO Double CaskThis is the second release of Amrut Double Cask. It is a vatting of two casks; one ex-bourbon (cask #3452) and one ex-PX sherry cask (cask #3803). The whisky was distilled in 2009 and bottled late 2016. The outturn was 800 bottles in total.

You can buy the Amrut 7 YO Double Cask in Sweden at SEK 1698 (8586901), and in the UK at around GBP 160. A few bottles will most likely be released in Norway in May, 2017.

Nose: The PX cask is in focus at first. Homemade caramel pudding (yeah, I know, I use that reference a lot, but it is a very strong sensory memory for me). Raisins and almonds. Super soft and delicate. Deep and rich.

Taste: Smooth and full bodied. Again it is the PX cask that dominates from the start. Rich and deep sweetness. Raisins, dates and apricots now.

Finish: Medium to long finish. It feels rich and full all the way. Some vanilla and coconut manages to push through the PX influence now - adding a nice extra dimension.

Comments: This is really very, very good. I thoroughly enjoyed this dram.

Score (88/100)
