Here is the third of the six whiskies in the Mackmyra Privus Series. These whiskies were released for sale back in 2007 and 2008.
The Mackmyra Privus:03 Rökning tillåten was a limited release of 1000 bottles (50 cl). It was bottled on 2007-03-08.
This is a peated expression. This was at least partly distilled at the Mackmyra pilot distillery.
Mackmyra peat the malt themselves, using smoke from smoldering juniper brush.
Nose: Chocolate and wood smoke. Vanilla. A green touch - pine wood perhaps. Sweet oakiness. With time very malty on the nose. Sweet barley juice and fresh artisan bread.
Taste: Full bodied. Very peaty delivery → ashes and ginger smoke. Tongue numbing qualities here. Peppery! Honey and nuts.
Finish: Medium long finish. Again the finish brings a lot of green notes. Assorted herbs as well as green grass.
Comment: A fine, young, peaty dram.
