Time to review the second of six whiskies in the Mackmyra Privus Series. These whiskies were released for sale back in 2007 and 2008.
The Mackmyra Privus:02 Näsa för sprit was a limited release of 1000 bottles (50 cl). It was bottled on 2007-03-07. Again an unpeated expression. This was all distilled at the Mackmyra pilot distillery.
Nose: Much softer than 01. Mild and sweet. Vanilla, white pepper and a touch of oak. Again a slight medicinal note in the back - hmm perhaps more like turpentine.
Taste: Medium body and sweetness. Spicy delivery - black and white pepper. Cinnamon and vanilla. Apples and ginger.
Finish: Medium to short finish. A bit more dry now. Green notes towards the end.
Comment: Clearly better than 01, but young and lacking in balance.
