I have actually reviewed the Glenfarclas 21 YO before, back in December 2012 (see old review) - the year when I started the Whisky Saga blog. Time now to revisit this old acquaintance, I think.

I find it most impressive that the current sales price in Norway for Glenfarclas 21 YO, almost seven years after my first review, remains exactly the same - NOK 850 (5286401).

This is dram that should rank very high on any most-bang-for-your-buck list. It is actually cheaper by the bottle in Norway than in the UK, where you have to pay around GBP 94.  In Sweden it clocks in at SEK 1190 (8504701). That's a massive difference. Take that you silly Swedish kniggits!

Anywho.. let’s get on with the show!

Nose: Warm and rich notes of dried fruits, caramel sauce, cinnamon and roasted almonds. This is how a classic, aged, sherry matured whisky should present itself. Brings a smile to my face just nosing this.

Taste: Velvety in character and full-bodied. On the palate much the same as what the nose revealed. Plenty of dried fruits. Mild spices, now with added white pepper. Quite a bit of sweet licorice in the back.

Finish: Long finish. The caramel notes are more noticeable now - they also take on a slight burnt edge. Nothing to worry about though, as it is perfectly matched by a lighter and sweeter fruitiness.

Comment: This is a true classic.
