Nikka Yoichi 10 YO, 45 %
And the winner is: Nikka Yoichi 10 YO! The winner of what, you ask? This is the winner from the last meeting in The Ladies’ Share! In addition we tasted Arran Amarone Cask Finish and Johnnie Walker The Spice Road that evening.
Nikka Yoichi 10 YO is available in Norway at Vinmonopolet for NOK 649,90 (item number 4977101) and in Sweden at Systembolaget for SEK 599 (item number 10413)
Nose (21/25): Ah! A lot of fruit! Raisins, peach, apricot, orange peel…you name it! A bit “dusty” and some coffee.
Taste (21/25): Heavy sweetness. Again a lot of fruit, and in particular peach and apricot. Some caramel as well.
Finish (20/25): Quite dry, actually. That was a bit surprising after the fructiferous nose. But after a while the sweet fruitiness came along, together with some salt.
Balance (20/25): This was an absolutely perfectly balanced whisky. Fruity from start to finish. I found it better this evening than when I have tasted it before.
So…in which order to taste the three whiskies? We chose: Nikka Yoichi 10 YO, Arran Amarone Cask Finish and Johnnie Walker The Spice Road. Maybe that was not fair to Arran and Johnnie Walker. What do you think?
